JAA FIC COURSE

Introduction.

Aviation South West offers several instructor courses - the initial FI(R), the removal of the "no night" restriction and/or the removal of the "no applied instrument" restriction, and the multi engine instructor rating.

At ASW we pride ourselves in the quality of the courses we offer. Each course is limited to a maximum of two students who have a dedicated briefing and training room, a full set of instructional notes and MP3 playback of all training deatils.

Course Content.

The course itself consists of a minimum of 30 hours flying and 125 hours ground instruction. The 30 hours flying will include up to 5 hours "mutual" flying with another student and up to 5 hours in our excellent FNPT II Simulator. Some of the 125 hours ground school will include preparation, study, and practice by the student.

Pre-course requirements.

Before starting an approved course for the FI(R) an applicant must have:-

  • completed at least 200 hours of flight time of which not less than 100 hours shall be PIC if holding an ATPL or CPL, or 150 hours PIC if holding a PPL.
  • passed the CPL(A) written exams
  • completed at least 30 hours on single engined piston powered aeroplanes - at least five hours in the six months preceding the pre-entry flight test.
  • received at least 10 hours of instrument flight instruction (up to 5 of which may be on a simulator)
  • completed at least 20 hrs of cross country flight as PIC
  • passed a specific pre-entry flight test within six months of the start of the course (regardless of existing licences, ratings or qualifications).
  • hold a current night rating.

    School Requirements.

ASW strongly recommends that students hold a valid IMC before starting the course. The pre-entry flight test requires a level of competence equal to that of the CPL Skills Test, and so we would strongly advise that an applicant needs to be sure they are at that standard before taking the pre-entry flight test.

    Prices.

Prices, which include all flying training, landings, membership and ground instruction, but excluding the final examination, are:

    FI(R)  £5995

    Removal of "No Night"  £195

    Aerodrome.

Exeter International Airport has all the facilities expected of an international passenger airport and is surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK.
