Introduction.
This course is for pilots who have passed the JAA written exams at ATPL or CPL level and wish (or need!) to add an Instrument Rating to their existing licence.
Pre-entry Requirements.
To start an Instrument Rating course you need in addition to the written exams to have a current licence with night rating and medical.
The Course.
This is probably the most demanding and challenging flying course you will ever do. We do our utmost to make it as pleasant as possible by offering a friendly and informal but thorough course. We guarantee to do our utmost to fit in with your timescale and training needs, and will arrange the test date to suit. The course itself consists of a minimum of 55 hours instrument instruction (reduced to 50 hrs if you hold a CPL(A)). We suggest that you do 20 hours on the simulator, 20 further hours on the P28A Warrior and P28R Arrow and 15 hours on the BE76 Duchess, but if you want to spend more of your time flyig and/or on the Duchess this can of course be arranged. The Flight Test is taken on the Duchess.
About the School.
We are CAA approved for a number of professional courses. We operate from airports that are big enough to have full ATC and Instrument services but small enough to be friendly and helpful. All our training is carried out to the best possible standard and, we hope, with the utmost good humour (i.e. we're slightly mad but doggedly professional). Apart from study books and land-away fees there are no other charges - even the coffee and tea are free and we reimburse you for car parking.
Cost.
The cost for 50 hours flying training and ground instruction is:
£9400
Aerodrome.
Please note that the Instrument Rating course is based at Exeter Airport.
Accommodation.
Excellent accommodation is at hand ranging from B&B at £15 a night to a four star hotel. Military students can usually find accommodation nearby without difficulty.
